Melanie Lynskey

 

Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on May 16th, 1977 in New Zealand. She is known for her portrayals of women who are complex as well as her ability to communicate in American dialects. She is mostly involved in independent films. Lynskey has been the recipient of two Critics' Choice Awards, an HCA Award and a Gracie. She also won a New Zealand Film Award and an Hollywood Film Award.





 Lynskey was a screen-star at the time she made her debut in Heavenly Creatures (1994). She won an award called the New Zealand Film Award for her role as Pauline Parker, a teenage serial killer. In the following years, she was in a variety of international productions, including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a Cheerleader The Cherry Orchard, Snakeskin (2001), Shooters, Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama (2/22/02). Lynskey established a name for herself as a character actor upon her arrival in the United States.





 Lynskey's role as the lead in the film Hello I Must Be Going as a depressed divorcee received praise from critics in 2012 and was awarded a Gotham Award nomination. This was a pivotal moment in her career. The Big Ask (2013), Happy Christmas. We'll Never See Paris. Goodbye to All That (all 2015), The Intervention. Rainbow Time.
